March 2017 Full Moon

'Fear not the path of truth for the lack of people walking on it. - Robert F. Kennedy' - Last speech (6th June 1968).

Several full moons over the last months have acted as trigger points for the breakdown-breakthrough-power-mongering energy of Uranus-Jupiter-Pluto, or the karmic wounding-healing energy of Saturn and Chiron. At this full moon both patterns together are dynamically activated and interlinked. The key qualities needed right now are courage, clarity and trust.

Full moon is exact at 16.54 Greek time today 12th March. The sun falls on Chiron in Pisces with the moon opposite in Virgo. Chiron brings up old pain either for healing or re-imprinting. Sometimes it seems to be all we have so we hang onto it until we remember ‘this is not who I am’! Rarely we welcome it as the first step of release. The Virgo moon insists we focus on this task with attention and commitment while Pisces draws us towards a deeper spiritual attunement. If we miss the gifts of these energies we can fall into their shadow side of mental-overwhelm and escapism-despair. Stay focused yet effortless, attend to detail and to emptiness for here the confusion of fear can dissolve: whatever choices we make in the coming weeks we will be dealing with for a long time to come!

The ever more autocratic ‘law unto itself’ Uranus is speeding forward towards familiar ground that it hasn’t visited since the 1930s… Jupiter (law, justice) is still opposing Uranus as it retraces its steps all the way back (by 9th June) to where it was at the US elections, however democratic processes of justice are being swiftly undermined as Pluto ruthlessly and manipulatively consolidates its power.

The asteroid Eris, goddess of discord, who triggered the Trojan war with a beauty contest won through bribery, is still tied into the disruptive explosive energy of Uranus. Vanity and competitiveness may escalate into serious conflicts.

The planet Venus/Aphrodite, moving backwards since 4th March, may slow things down or turn things upside down. Resources, values, relationships are all undergoing reassessment. As her path crosses over the sun on 25th March a glimpse of hidden motives may emerge. And when she turns to move forward again on 15th April she stays in the embrace of Chiron for a whole week. This could permit a deep healing encounter on a personal level or on a global level it may manifest more as shadow, as enforced submission, misplaced allegiance or even treachery. Venus tends to covet always more of what she thinks she lacks and thus can even trigger conflict.

Saturn, Lord of Karma, symbolising responsible authority or repressive regimes turns backwards on 5th April at the 'galactic centre', the black hole around which our galaxy spins. This adds to the picture of a weighty turning point. At best Saturn can bring gravitas and put brakes on the escalating polarisation and unleashed populism. Or it can manifest as heavy handed repression.

"Few will have the greatness to bend history; but each of us can work to change a small portion of events, and in the total of all those acts will be written the history of this generation ... It is from numberless diverse acts of courage and belief that human history is thus shaped. Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current which can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance."- Robert F. Kennedy

Collectively we face a massive challenge; to turn a corner in a truck accelerating downhill without brakes. Individually in thousands of ways we can create ripples of energy and daring which realign the landscape through which the truck is passing thus subtly shifting its momentum and direction. As we discover again and again how to dissolve the habit of polarisation which sets us at odds with others, how to nourish non-violent communication within our own minds and relationships, we dismantle those patterns which perpetuate suffering not only for ourselves but for generations to come. Whatever is happening ‘out there’ must also be happening subtly within and vice versa.

Ultimately our task as always is to bring to this mad scramble the remembering of timelessness. Only in desire-less awareness can the mind outpace time; in that space the mystics sourced their knowing, the ancient law-makers sourced their wisdom, and in that still centre where the dance is we can source a quiet revolution.

'Dancing is not just getting up painlessly, like a leaf blown on the wind; dancing is when you tear your heart out and rise out of your body to hang suspended between the worlds'.- Rumi
